For us, mindfulness is stillness. It's the art of being present - bringing your mind and body to the same place. In a moment of mindfulness there is no self judgment, no rushing, and no guilt. There's just patience, acceptance, and forgiveness.
Thích Nhất Hạnh is known by some as "The Father of Mindfulness" and describes mindfulness as being "... the opposite of forgetfulness. Mindfulness is when you are truly there, mind and body together...Then you can recognize the many conditions of happiness that are in you and around you, and happiness just comes naturally."
There are many ways to practice mindfulness and specific activities such as meditation, yoga, therapy, journaling, sound bathing, healing ceremonies, and so many others are great ways to make the most of your mindful moment.
In that moment, what you do is up to you, but we've made it our mission to help you create daily space to practice whatever definition of mindfulness works best for you. That could be a moment of introspection, journaling, silent observation, or gratitude. It could be a simple moment of nothing - just focusing on your breathing and the feeling of air around you.
2:16pm is a daily opportunity to bring mind and body into harmony with one another. It's a chance to intentionally slow down. It's a chance to ask yourself, "What do I need most right now?" Creating space to ask yourself that question might be the miracle you need.
"Mindfulness is like that - it is the miracle which can call back in a flash our dispersed mind and restore it to wholeness so that we can live each minute of life.” (Thich Nhat Hanh, The Miracle of Mindfulness: An Introduction to the Practice of Meditation)
